Ticks:
-
Environment - Ticks are most active between May - November. They tend to inhabit areas with tall grass, leaf litter, and shrubs.

Check for Ticks - After spending time outdoors, thoroughly check your body, clothing, and dog for ticks. Pay special attention to areas like underarms, behind the knees, around the ears, and along the hairline.
-
Remove Ticks Properly - There is a tick removal kit located in the Medicine Box. See package for directions. Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible. Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Do not twist or jerk the tick. After removal, clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol, an iodine scrub, or soap and water.
